North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker is spending her first few months on the job navigating complex political channels and bureaucracy in Raleigh. At the same time, she is proposing a realignment of both the state agency and regional economic development groups to allow for quicker decisions on issues which keep the state competitive in luring new jobs to the region. On this program, Secretary Decker discusses why education and technology are key components in the state’s economic recovery, why Commerce is involved in the efforts to implement tax reform, and how she hopes to influence perception of the region with a new marketing and brand campaign.
