City Investments

Much like businesses in the private sector, local governments trimmed payrolls and slashed spending to survive a sharp decline in revenue in recent years. Still, some municipalities have continued making investments in infrastructure while planning for brighter financial times. Four Carolina mayors give their take on surviving the recession, attracting new jobs and supporting the cultural arts: Terry Bellamy of Asheville, Steve Benjamin of Columbia, Robbie Perkins of Greensboro and Stephen Wukela of Florence.
