Fracking’s Future

One is often reminded of our society’s dependence on energy each time a cell phone battery is low or a car’s gas gauge nears empty. While utilities and oil companies are pouring profits into research and development, some policy makers insist the resources to meet energy demand already exist in the Carolinas. On this program, American Petroleum Institute CEO Jack Gerard addresses the future of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, and shares his thoughts on oversight of the petroleum industry. Joining the discussion are Jeffrey Merrifield of Shaw’s Power Group and Willis Whichard, Chairman of the N.C. Governor’s Scientific Panel on Offshore Energy.
