Lasting Legacy

As one of the nation’s largest endowments, The Duke Endowment  strives to make a measurable impact on the lives of Carolinians, perhaps most notably in guiding families out of poverty. By connecting individuals with federal assistance and supporting young mothers through pregnancy and the early years of their child’s life, the Endowment is tracking the lasting legacy of James B. Duke. On this program, Minor Shaw, Chair of the Endowment’s Board of Trustees, discusses the success of the Nurse Family Partnership, civic engagement of young people and the stewardship which comes with the management of foundations. Dr. Mary Lynne Calhoun, Dean of the College of Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Eric Law, Executive Director at Hands On Charlotte, join the discussion.
