Summit on North Carolina Education

North Carolina’s public schools are at a crossroad. The implementation of Common Core standards has led to changes in the classroom and heightened the conversation around how students are taught and tested. A shift in political power at the state legislature has been followed by debate on how teachers are employed and compensated. And significant developments in the state’s workforce have business leaders and policy makers rethinking the way students are coached for their future careers. We gathered some of North Carolina’s brightest administrators, educators, policy makers and business leaders for an in-depth conversation on this transformative time in our public schools. Joining us for this program are N.C. State Board of Education Chairman Bill Cobey, Capitol Broadcasting‘s Jim Goodmon, Wake County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim Merrill, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superindent Dr. Heath MorrisonState Representative Linda Johnson and High Point University President Nido Qubein.
