Cultivating a Counterculture

Posted on: August 29th, 2014 by admin

The Asheville region has seen a post-recession boom, and this summer led the state in low unemployment. Jack Cecil, a prominent business and civic leader in western North Carolina and President of Biltmore Farms, attributes this largely to the growth of small businesses and the continued cultivation of Asheville’s unique counterculture. On this program, Cecil recounts the region’s economic recovery and the challenges in addressing underemployment. Joining the conversation are Dr. Adolphus Belk, Jr., Winthrop University Professor of Political Science and Columbia Chamber of Commerce CEO Carl Blackstone.
