Charleston’s ports are a key component of the region’s resurgence in manufacturing. Now, efforts to deepen the shipping channel and support larger container ships could spur even more exports of South Carolina-made products. On this program, South Carolina Ports Authority President and CEO Jim Newsome reflects on the competiveness of the freight industry and the infrastructure investments which allow the region to lure business away from other parts of the country. Ran Coble of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research and Dr. Adolphus Belk, Jr. of Winthrop University join the conversation.
