Faced with a nationwide decline in the number of students enrolling in college, Presbyterian College President Dr. Claude Lilly¬†believes institutions of higher learning must work together to keep young people engaged in education while matching the needs of the region’s employers. On this program, Lilly describes the role his college plays in connecting students to their community, supplying an educational¬†foundation for advanced degrees, why some high school students should choose a path which does not involve a four-year degree. Joining the discussion are Dr. Bill Anderson of MeckEd and Mary Lynne Calhoun, Dean of the College of Education at UNC Charlotte.

Campus Connection

Posted on: November 18th, 2011 by admin

Football returns to the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013, more than 60 years after the college first tried the sport – only to see the team fold a year later. Chancellor Phil Dubois believes a new football program, while an expensive endeavor, will enhance the experience of its students and build a connection to a community which might not otherwise have a reason to visit the north Charlotte campus. On this program, Dubois discusses the costs and benefits of college athletics. Jeff Beaver of the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission and baseball General Manager Scott Brown of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans contribute to the dialogue.
