The Business of Research

Significant advancements in health care are under development in research labs across the Carolinas, but the work of those scientists does not always appear in the marketplace. Access to capital for research and development is not the only challenge facing the region’s research corridors. On this program, Corie Curtis of the N.C. Biotechnology Center, Bill Mahoney of SCRA and Wayne Roper of SCBIO discuss the work of connecting researchers with angel investors to turn academic labs into profit centers, plus the importance of exposing young people to the business of R&D to motivate and create future scientists.
