Traction for Roads

Whether it is clearing congestion or connecting rural communities to urban centers, efforts to improve theĀ roads and highways in the Carolinas seem to be gaining some traction. North Carolina’s state transportation chief has proposed a new formula for allocating road funding , and South Carolina lawmakers recently approved a $500 million bond package meant to tackle some of the Palmetto state’s most critical transportation infrastructure challenges. On this program, Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. President and CEO Ward Nye compares the Carolinas’ road-building programs with those of Texas, and discusses the ways states are raising cash to pay for construction. Bob Morgan of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and Deepal Eliatamby of Alliance Consulting Engineers join the conversation.
