Engineering and finance are among the more robust sectors of the economy as the Carolinas continue to recover from the Great Recession, according to our trio of economists. The news is not as positive in manufacturing, as jobs continue to be lost amid more automation and productivity gains. And the wild card in the region’s economic rebound may be significant tax reforms currently under discussion by elected leaders in both Carolinas.
